Erzgebirge Club Sports Fest Day: Sunday September 9, 2007 - It is a day when soccer is played from sun-up to sun-down. But the only things going down with the Tirolers will be a few cold ones. It is a great festival atmosphere in the picnic grove behind the club house. So many long time Tirolers have been going to this event that we made it a club activity. They have all of the usual great German food to purchase, and there are many German bands there for the entertainment. Most Tirolers start arriving about 3:00 PM. The Erzgebirge Club is in Warminster, PA. on Davisville Rd. a few blocks off of County Line Rd. The long driveway entrance is opposite Chestnut Dr. Contact person is George Roller, 215-343-1177.
Lehigh River Gorge Bike Ride ***Changed to September 30th (and 29th) 2007
This may be the premier event of the year! First the biking: Come ride with us on Sunday September 23rd through the beautiful Lehigh River Gorge. You ride a slight downhill grade of an abandoned railroad bed and follow the river all the way through the Lehigh Gorge State Park. As you pedal at your own pace, you will see fantastic rock formations, tumbling waterfalls, and abundant wildlife. You can picnic at one of the little picnic stops along the trail, explore the ruined locks of the former Lehigh Canal, or marvel at Penn Haven Places - a relic from the early railroad era. Your choice of a 3-5 hour 25 mile complete ride, or the mid-way 12-15 mile 100% gentle downhill ride of 2-4 hours. Bike rental and shuttle either ride $37. Shuttle only (your own bike) $17. http://www.whitewaterrafting.com/biking.html
Now to complete the weekend: Consider coming up Saturday September 22nd. Lets get reservations for dinner at a Jim Thorpe restaurant. Stay over at one of the many Bed and Breakfasts in the area for $89 to $129, breakfast of course included.
